3. Press the power switch on the HP NetServer's control panel when prompted by the operating
system.
4. Disconnect the power cables.
WARNING The power supplies will continue to provide standby current to the NetServer until
the power cable is disconnected.
5. Gain access to the HP NetServer by referring to Replacing the Bezel and Replacing the Covers.
CAUTION Wear a wrist strap and use a static-dissipating work surface connected to the
chassis when handling components. Ensure that the metal of the wrist strap
contacts your skin.
6. Locate the system battery on the system board.

7. Use a small flat-blade screwdriver and pop the battery out of the plastic socket by sliding the
blade under the leaf spring on the top of the battery.
You are pressing the screwdriver blade down on the battery near its outer edge to pop it out of
the socket.
Replacement
1. Insert the new battery with the positive sign (+) facing up, and ensure it is seated completely.
2. Verify the retaining clip is in place, and holds the battery firmly.
3. Replace the top cover (or left side cover) and reassemble the system.
4. If necessary, reset the date and time on the server.
