Usinganexternalmonitor
Yourcomputercansupportamaximumvideoresolutionofupto2048x1536,providedthattheexternal
monitoralsosupportsthatresolution.Formoreinformation,refertothemanualsprovidedwithyourmonitor.
Youcansetanyresolutionforeitherthecomputerdisplayortheexternalmonitor.Whenyouusebothatthe
sametime,theresolutionofbothisthesame.Ifyousetahigherresolutionforthecomputerdisplay,you
canseeonlypartofthescreenatatime.YoucanseeotherpartsbymovingtheimagewiththeTrackPoint
pointingdeviceoranotherpointingdevice.
Youcanmovethedisplayoutputtothecomputerdisplay,theexternalmonitor,orbothbychangingsettings
intheDisplaySettingswindow.
Connectinganexternalmonitor
Toconnectanexternalmonitor,dothefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortothemonitorconnector;thenconnectthemonitortoanelectricaloutlet.
2.Turnontheexternalmonitor.
3.ChangethedisplayoutputlocationbypressingF6.Thisenablesyoutoswitchamongviewingoutput
ontheexternalmonitor,thecomputermonitor,andbothmonitors.
Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,right-clickonthedesktop,thenselectScreen
resolution.ClicktheDetectbutton.
Settingthemonitortype
Tosetyourmonitortype,dothefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortothemonitorconnector,andthenconnectthemonitortoanelectrical
outlet.
2.Turnontheexternalmonitor.
3.Right-clickonthedesktop,andthenclickScreenresolution.
Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,clicktheDetectbutton.
4.Clicktheiconforthedesiredmonitor(theMonitor-2iconisfortheexternalmonitor).
5.SetResolution.
6.ClickAdvancedSettings.
7.ClicktheMonitortab.Checkthemonitorinformationwindowtoensurethatthemonitortypeiscorrect.
Ifitis,clickOKtoclosethewindow;otherwiseproceedwiththefollowingsteps.
8.Ifmorethantwomonitortypesaredisplayed,selectGenericPnPMonitororGenericNon-PnP
Monitor.
9.ClickProperties.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethepassword
orprovideconrmation.
10.ClicktheDrivertab.
11.ClickUpdateDriver.
12.ClickBrowsemycomputerfordriversoftware,andthenclickLetmepickfromalistofdevice
driversonmycomputer.
13.CleartheShowcompatiblehardwarecheckbox.
14.SelectManufacturerandModelforyourmonitor.Ifyoucannotndyourmonitoronthelist,stopthe
installationofthisdriverandusethedrivershippedwithyourmonitor.
15.Afterupdatingthedriver,clickClose.
