Memorymoduleproblems
Printtheseinstructionsnowandkeepitwithyourcomputerforreferencelater.
Ifyourmemorymoduleisnotoperatingproperly,checkthefollowingitems:
1.Verifythatthememorymoduleisinstalledandseatedcorrectlyinyourcomputer.
Itmightbenecessarytoremovealladdedmemorymodulestotestthecomputerwithonlythe
factory-installedmemorymodules,andthenreinstallthememorymoduleoneatatimetoensure
aproperconnection.
2.Checkforerrormessagesduringstartup.
Followtheappropriatecorrectiveactionsforpower-onself-test(POST)errormessages.
3.VerifythatthelatestUEFIBIOSforyourmodelhasbeeninstalled.
4.Verifythepropermemorycongurationandcompatibilityincludingthemaximummemorysizeandthe
memoryspeed.

Networkingproblems
Thefollowingarethemostcommonnetworkingproblems:
Ethernetproblems
•Problem:Yourcomputercannotconnecttothenetwork.
Solution:Makesurethat:
–Thecableisinstalledcorrectly.
ThenetworkcablemustbesecurelyconnectedbothtotheEthernetconnectorofyourcomputerand
totheRJ45connectorofthehub.Themaximumallowabledistancefromthecomputertohubis
100meters.Ifthecableisconnectedandthedistanceiswithinacceptablelimitsbuttheproblem
persists,tryadifferentcable.
–Youareusingthecorrectdevicedriver.
1.GotoControlPanelandclickHardwareandSound➙DeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedfor
anadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethepasswordorprovideconrmation.
2.Iftheexclamationmark!isdisplayednexttotheadapternameunderNetworkadapters,you
mightnotbeusingthecorrectdriverorthedrivermighthavebeendisabled.Toupdatethedriver,
right-clickthehighlightedadapter.
3.ClickUpdateDriverSoftware,andthenfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.
–Theswitchportandtheadapterhavethesameduplexsetting.
Ifyouconguredtheadapterforfullduplex,makesurethattheswitchportalsoisconguredfor
fullduplex.Settingthewrongduplexmodecandegradeperformance,causedataloss,orresultin
lostconnections.
–Youhaveinstalledallnetworkingsoftwarethatisnecessaryforyournetworkenvironment.
CheckwithyourLANadministratorforthenecessarynetworkingsoftware.
•Problem:Theadapterstopsworkingfornoapparentreason.
Solution:Thenetworkdriverlesmightbecorruptormissing.Updatethedriverbyreferringtotheabove
solutionfortheproceduretomakesurethatthecorrectdevicedriverisinstalled.
•Problem:IfyourcomputerisaGigabitEthernetmodelandyouuseaspeedof1000Mbps,the
connectionfailsorerrorsoccur.
