Makingsuredevicedriversarecurrent
Devicedriversareprogramsthatcontaininstructionsfortheoperatingsystemabouthowtooperateor
“drive”acertainpieceofhardware.Eachhardwarecomponentonyourcomputerhasitsownspecicdriver.
Ifyouaddanewcomponent,theoperatingsystemneedstobeinstructedonhowtooperatethatpiece
ofhardware.Afteryouinstallthedriver,theoperatingsystemcanrecognizethehardwarecomponent
andunderstandhowtouseit.
Note:Becausedriversareprograms,likeanyotherleonyourcomputer,theyaresusceptibletocorruption
andmightnotperformcorrectlyifcorruptionoccurs.
Itisnotalwaysnecessarytodownloadthelatestdrivers.However,youshoulddownloadthelatestdriver
foracomponentifyounoticepoorperformancefromthatcomponentorifyouaddedanewcomponent.

YoucandownloadandinstallupdateddevicedriversfromtheLenovoWebsitebydoingthefollowing:

4.Followthedirectionsonthescreenandinstallthenecessarysoftware.
GettingthelatestdriversusingSystemUpdate
TheSystemUpdateprogramhelpsyoukeepthesoftwareonyoursystemup-to-date.Updatepackagesare
storedonLenovoserversandcanbedownloadedfromtheLenovoSupportWebsite.Updatepackages
cancontainprograms,devicedrivers,UEFIBIOSashes,orsoftwareupdates.WhentheSystemUpdate
programconnectstotheLenovoSupportWebsite,theSystemUpdateprogramautomaticallyrecognizes
themachinetypeandmodelofyourcomputer,theinstalledoperatingsystem,andthelanguageofthe
operatingsystemtodeterminewhatupdatesareavailableforyourcomputer.TheSystemUpdateprogram
thendisplaysalistofupdatepackagesandcategorizeseachupdateascritical,recommended,oroptionalto
helpyouunderstandtheimportance.Youhavecompletecontrolofwhichupdatestodownloadandinstall.
Afteryouselecttheupdatepackagesyouwant,theSystemUpdateprogramautomaticallydownloadsand
installstheupdateswithoutanyfurtherinterventionfromyou.
TheSystemUpdateprogramispreinstalledonyourcomputerandisreadytorun.Theonlyprerequisiteis
anactiveInternetconnection.Youcanstarttheprogrammanually,oryoucanusetheschedulefeature
toenabletheprogramtosearchforupdatesautomaticallyatspeciedintervals.Youalsocanpredene
scheduledupdatestosearchbyseverity(criticalupdates,criticalandrecommendedupdates,orallupdates)
sothelistyouchoosefromcontainsonlythoseupdatetypesthatareofinteresttoyou.
