Other Information
Chapter 5 55
The Remote Control Doesn’t Work
• Something might be between the remote and the remote sensor on the component. Make sure there is a clear path.
• Maybe the remote isn’t aimed directly at the component.
• The remote might be in the wrong mode. To be in DVD mode, press DVD/TV on the remote before you press any other buttons.
• Maybe batteries in remote are weak, dead or installed incorrectly. Put new batteries in the remote. (Note, if you remove the batteries,
you may have to reprogram the remote to operate other components.)
• You might need to drain the remote’s microprocessor: remove batteries and press the number 1 button for at least 60 seconds.
Release the 1 button, replace the batteries, and (if necessary) program the remote again.
Problems with V-Chip/Parental Control
The rating limits don’t work
• You must set up the parental ratings. Go to page 40 in Chapter 4 for more information.
I don’t remember my password for V-Chip and I want to unlock the TV
• If you forget your password, turn on the TV. Reduce the volume to a minium level. Press and hold the VOLUME down button on the
front of the TV/DVD and press the 0 button on the remote control simultaneously. When the V-CHIP SET menu appears, enter a new
password.
I don’t remember my password for parental control and I want to unlock the TV
• If you forget your password for parental control:
1. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray.
2. Remove the disc.
3. Press OPEN/CLOSE again to close the tray. “NO DISC” appears on the TV screen.
4. While holding STOP down on the TV/DVD, press 7 on the remote control. “Iniitialize” appears on the TV screen.
5. Enter a new password again.
