19.1 Regular cleaning and maintenance
19.1.1 Cleaning
The»Xtremeisasimplebutwell-designedyingdevice.Therearenomechanicalparts
that need to be lubricated or require special maintenance. However, after each ight
operationyoushouldcleanthe»Xtremeofpossibledirt(woolstrings,dust,etc.).
Forcleaning,useadryorslightlydampclothandavoidcontactbetweenwaterandthe
electronics,rechargeablebatteryandmotors.
Donotywithoutcoveringtheelectronics(canopy).Pleaseensurethatnomoistureenters
theinnercentralpiece.Neverywhenitisraining!
19.1.2 Maintenance and repairs
Defectivecomponentspresentahazard.Replacealldamagedcomponentsbeforeying
the »Xtreme again.
Itisimportantthatyouonlyuseoriginalspareparts.Non-originalsparepartscanleadto
damageandaccidents,ormaynotbeofsufcientquality.
19.2 Resetting flight leveling gyro
19.2.1 General
> Incaseyour»Xtremeappearstobedriftinginonedirection,noticeableespeciallyin
beginnermode,youmayneedtoresetthesensorcalibration.
> Ifyouneedtocontinuouslytrimthe»Xtremetoensureproperyingthenthismaybe
due to the following reasons:
» A motor shaft might be slightly bent or a propeller is defective resulting in
vibrations. Either replacing the motor(s) or installing a complete new set of
propellersmaysolvethisissue.
» Crashingthe»Xtreme,orexposingittomechanicalstressduringtransportation
typicallycausesthesephenomena.
> Theonboardsensorhaslostitsfactorycalibration.
» Typicallythisiscausedbyahardhit(crashes),orexposuretohightemperature.
It can also be related to transport issues.
Cold temperature environmental conditions may require
sensitive electronic components to reach ideal operating
temperature slower as compared to under favourable
environmental conditions such as room temperature.
Under such cold conditions your unit may tend to drift in
any direction, increasing gradually. This can be avoided by
re-initializing the flight gyro after approx. 3 - 4 minutes into
flight. Small drifts in any direction are normal, however.
Drift may also be caused by propeller wash while flying
close to ground surface. Ideally, avoid operating the unit
in cold conditions (close to 32°F and 0 °C respectively) to
prevent product damage.
