Whenmountingthetransducerinahullthathasadeadrise
anglethetransducershouldbemountedfollowingthesteps
below.

1.AlignthebottomhalfoftheDeadriseblocksothatitis
paralleltothecenterline(keel)ofthevessel.
2.Usingapermanentmarker,drawaroundtheoutsideedgeof
theblockandtheinternalholeforthethreadedtube.
3.Removetheblockfromthehull.
4.Drillapilotholeinthecenterofthelocationmarkedouton
thehullforthethreadedtube.
5.Drilltheholeoutusingasuitablesizeholecutter.
6.Usingsandpaperand/oraleensuretherearenorough
edgesorburrs.
7.Ensureallsurfacesarecleanandfreefromdebris.
8.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesivesealantall
aroundtheedgeofthetopfaceofthetransducerandthe
bottomfaceoftheDeadriseblock.
9.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesivesealantup
eachsideofthethreadedtube,ensuringthatthesealantwill
protrudeapproximately6mmabovethenaltightenednut.
10.Feedthetransducercablethroughthedeadriseblock’s
threadedtubehole.
11.Pushthedeadriseblockdownontothetransducerensuring
thatthelocatorsontheblocklineupwiththelocatorholes
onthetransducer.
12.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesivesealantall
aroundtheedgeofthetopfaceofthebottomhalfofthecut
deadriseblock,whereitwillmeetthehull.
13.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesivesealantall
aroundtheedgesoftheholeinthehull.
14.Guidethetransducercableandthreadedtubeupthrough
thevesselhullandensurethetransducerislinedupwith
themarkingsmadeinstep2.
15.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesivesealantall
aroundtheedgeofthebottomfaceofthetophalfofthecut
deadriseblock,whereitwillmeetthehull.
16.Withapersoninsidethevessel,placethetophalfofthe
deadriseblockoverthethreadedtube.
17.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesivesealantall
aroundtheedgeofthetopfaceofthetophalfofthecutdead
riseblock,whereitwillmeetthenut.
18.Applyathickbeadofmarinegradeadhesivesealanttothe
bottomofthenut.
19.Ensuringthatthedeadriseblockandtransducerdonot
move,securethetransducerassemblybytighteningthenut.
20.Tightenthenutasfollows:
•Plastictransducer—Handtighten,plusaquarterturn
oftheadjustablespanner.
•Bronzetransducer—Useanadjustablespannerto
tighten.
•Woodenhull—Allowthewoodenhulltoswellpriorto
tighteningthenutusingtheadjustablespanner.
Inordertopreventleaksandtransducermovementwhenhit
bywavesetc.,ensurethatthenutisadequatelytightened.
Youshouldseethesealantprotrudingfromtheedgesofthe
appliedsurfaces.
DoNOTovertighten.Overtighteningcancausedamageto
thetransducerandhullwhichmayresultinwaterleaking
intothehull.
21.Removeanyexcessadhesivesealant.
22.Ensurethatthesealanthasfullycuredbeforeputtingthe
vesselbackinthewater.
Refertothesealantmanufacturersinstructionsforcuring
times.
23.Oncethevesselhasbeenputbackinthewatercheckfor
leaksimmediately.
24.Checkforleaksatregularintervalsafterinstallationuntilyou
aresatisedthattherearenoleaks.
25.Ensurecheckingforleaksaroundthetransducerisaddedto
yourroutinevesselmaintenanceschedule.
