Increase the probability that your boat will
be seen by other ships on their radar with
this affordable active device. Unlike
traditional passive radar reflectors which
merely attempt to create a larger radar
echo, Sea-me is an active system which
receives a radar signal, amplifies it and
re-transmits it. This ensures a stronger
return signal and a more even strength
around the full 360° azimuth.

responds to radar pulses at both X and S
bands. All ships over 3000 tons are
required by law to carry both types of
radar and many prefer to monitor S Band
when in open waters because it is more
tolerant of heavy rain and sea clutter

Why Fit an Active Radar Target
Enhancer?
At night, the range of the masthead light of
a sailing yacht of less than 20m is only 3nm and
of a sailing yacht of less than 12m only 2nm - a
ship making 20kts will cover 3nm in only 9 mins.
As they get bigger, travel faster and have lower
manning on the bridge, the risk of collision or a
close encounter increases. Therefore it’s vital
that small craft return a strong radar signal if they
are to be seen in plenty of time for avoiding
action to be taken by ships.
Consistency is also important since most ships
today are fitted with ARPA (Automatic Radar
Plotting Aid) which needs to obtain a return of
50% of scans if it is to acquire the target
