Colour Forward Looking Sonar
A colour FLS with the best range and performance yet. Developed with all the
expertise gathered by Echopilot over 13 years of manufacturing Forward Looking
Sonar. With greater resolution than previous models, the large transflective colour
LCD can be seen in the brightest sunlight. The use of colour enables enhanced
seabed interpretation - the colour of the target depends on its hardness and the
strength of echo that it returns. The Platinum is NMEA compatible and can dis-
play GPS data. Flush mount or optional bracket for wheelhouse use.

Real Time Forward Looking Technology Explained
Real Time means that the FLS doesn’t gradually build up a picture,
instead it scans the whole forward view and updates the screen several times
a second. An obstruction ahead of the boat will be shown immediately.
The FLS displays a 2D profile of the seabed below and 3-5 times that depth
ahead of the vessel on a flat muddy bottom. This increases to 8 or 9 times if the
seabed shoals upward and more than this for a large target. Rocky bottoms give
especially strong reflections and hard vertical surfaces like quay walls or reefs will
often be seen at 150m or more.

scans through 90º from straight
ahead to straight down.
The FLS is not designed to be a
fishfinder, it is a collision
avoidance device. In reality it
does pick up larger fish and
sometimes shoals of smaller fish.

Combination Instrument Display
Versatility instrument with simple, intuitive menu driven operation with transflective

nation log and depth unit, but is also a fully functional NMEA repeater and feature
an innovative steering screen displays course to Waypoint on a simulated compass
card and has an off course arrow
showing course over ground.
As the Trio will work with a wide range of
