Operation Manual
• On their turn, the player may only play either one Gollum, or one
dwarf or dwarf pair, or one Gandalf card. However, multiple Bilbo
cards may be played in addition. Of course, a Bilbo card may also
be played by itself.
• If multiple character cards are played, the order in which they are
played is not important.
THORIN CARD:
Thorin Oakenshield is the leader of the dwarves and
a legendary warrior.
If someone plays the Thorin card, the next player
misses a turn. Apart from that all other
characteristics of a dwarf card also apply to the
Thorin card.
SCORING A LOCATION:
If a player lays a character card in the last free space next to the
current location card, their turn is over and points are immediately
counted. Each player counts the number of their characters lying next
to the current location card. Each character counts for 1 point, with
the exception of the dwarf pair cards, which count for 2 points each.
Covered cards are worth 0 points.
The player with the highest points total has contributed the most to
the journey at this location and is rewarded the number of gems as
indicated on the large gem depicted on the location card. The player
with the second highest points total receives the number of gems as
indicated on the small gem. The other players fi nish the round empty
handed.
In the case of a tie, the player who laid a character card on the side of
the location card with a small key takes precedence in winning gems.
If the character card laid next to the small key does not belong to
one of the players tied for the highest points total, the player whose
character card is closest to the small key, moving in a clockwise
direction, takes precedence in winning gems.
Special rule for 2-player game: If the player with the second highest
points total does not have at least three characters at the current
location, he doesn‘t receive any gems.
