Administration Menu For installing and configuring access to the MX

those with administrator privileges.
AutoScan When activated, the MX
4
automatically cycles through channels,
displaying each computer's video for a specified time interval.
AutoSkip When activated, channel selection is restricted to active channels.
Base Unit The MX
4
unit to which computers and/or other MasterConsole units are
connected in a two-tier configuration.
C Model MasterConsole II models MCC4, MCC8, and MCC16.
Channel The 25-pin connector identifying where a device is connected to the MX
4
.
There are 8 channels on model MX48 units, and 16 channels on model
MX416 units.
Active A channel is active when a connected device is powered on.
Inactive A channel is inactive if no device is connected to it or if the connected
device is powered off.
Channel Configuration Menu For editing computer and device names, changing security classes, and
assigning channel-specific scan rates.
Channel ID Number The specific channel number to which a device is connected.
Computer Name A label of up to 12 characters assigned by an administrator for a device
connected to an MX
4
channel.
One-Tier Only computers are connected directly to a single MX
4
unit Configuration
Two-Tier A mix of devices—computers and MasterConsole units—are connected
to a base MasterConsole unit.
Device A computer or any MasterConsole unit—P model, MCC, MCX or MCS
model, MX
4
model— is connected to an MX
4
channel.
Function Selection Screen For accessing front panel control functions.
Green Mode A field in the User Profile Menu for toggling the PowerSave feature on
and off.
Hot-key For activating the on-screen user interface.To activate the on-screen user
interface, press the hot-key—default <ScrollLock>—twice rapidly.
ID Display A single-line display shown on the monitor to identify the currently
selected channel.
Key Number Located in the left-hand column of the Selection Menu. To quickly select
a channel, press the corresponding key number on the keyboard when the
Selection Menu is displayed.
LCD Display Liquid-crystal display screen on the MX
4
front panel for displaying
statuses and controlling administrative functions.
Local Console The keyboard, monitor, and mouse plugged into the local KVM port.
Logging In Entering a user name to gain access to the MX
4
system.
Login Screen For logging in to the system as a user or administrator.
Logout Disconnects a user from the system.
