OverView FAQ’s
After I began the OverView, I’m getting
“MX4 device is not responding” after
clicking “Activate Port”.
Make sure DB9 to RJ11 converter is plugged in to PC DB9
serial port properly, and the 4-wire telephone cable is
connected between the converter and MX
4
RJ11 Admin port.
Make sure a proper Comm port number is selected.
You may need to re-cycle the MX
4
AC power. Please note:
This will not affect the computers connected to the MX
4
,
except all users will have to login again.
There may be a defective serial port on your Windows 95/98
PC.
After a certain period of OverView
operation, when I click “Send to MX4”, the
Windows hourglass stays on and will not go
away.
Check the cable connection between PC and MX
4

Most likely the serial communication between PC and MX
4
is
broken. Press <Ctrl+Alt+Del> to bring up the “Close
Program” windows. Select “MCOverView – MCCtrl1” entry
to see if it has a “Not responding” status. If it does, click “End
task” to terminate OverView. restart the OverView from the
Start Menu. If it does not have a “Not responding” status, it is
waiting for a slow PC to perform.
My PC has only DB25 serial port, not DB9.
What can I do to run MX
4
OverView?
You can convert a DB25 to DB9 using a standard adapter
from your local PC store.
