Activate PC Communication and Login
OverView activates the PC serial port to communicate with the MX
4
unit. From the Communication Control Panel
select the COM port you installed the DB9 to RJ11 adapter—default COM1 (Figure 44). Click the button labeled
Activate Port. OverView will initiate the communication with the MX
4
unit. It retrieves the serial number from the
MX
4
unit and displays it in an information window. Click the OK button to continue. OverView will prompt you to
login as an administrator (Figure 45). Enter an administrative user name and the password—admin/raritan—if
needed, and then click the OK button. OverView will validate the admin name and password with the MX
4
unit and
will download a copy of the configuration file from MX
4
unit into the PC. You can now perform maintenance
functions.

Monitoring
OverView allows you to monitor all user activity of in real time (Figure 46). From the View Menu, select Log
Window to activate monitoring. It displays any user’s login from a specific user station, user’s logout and the
duration of the session, user’s selection of computers, and any failed login attempts. These activities are saved in a
log file for later review. The log file contains all user activities performed while the log window is activated.
Edit User Profiles
OverView allows you to change, add or delete a user’s profile. To edit a user’s profile, click User Profiles on the left
side of the main window to display the user list. Double click the user name to edit it. An edit window will pop up to
allow you to edit the profile (Figure 47). Modify any field as required. Click OK to close the window.
