Target Connections and the CLI
ThepurposeoftheDominionSXistoletauthorizedusersestablish
connectionstovarioustargeteddevicesusingtheconnectcommand.
Beforeconnectingtoatargettheterminalemulationandescapesequence
mustbeconfigured.Whenatargetisdisconnected,theappropriate
disconnectmessageisdisplayed.TheDominionSXalsoprovidesthe
abi
lit
ytoshareportsamongusers.
Setting Emulation on a Target

To set emulation on the target:
• Ensurethattheencodinginuseonthehostmatchestheencoding
configuredforthetargetdevice.Forexample,ifthecharacter‐set
settingonaSunSolarisserverissettoISO8859‐1,thetargetdevice
shouldalsobesettoISO8859‐1.
Note:ISO9660formatisthestandardsupportedbyRari
tan.However,
otherCD‐ROMextensionsmayalsowork.
• Ensurethattheterminalemulationonthetargethostconnectedto
theDominionSXserialportissettoVT100,VT220,VT320orANSI.
OnmostUNIXsystems,exportTERM=vt100(orvt220|vt320|ansi)”sets
thepreferredterminalemulationtypeontheUNIXtargetdevice.For
example,iftheterminaltypesettingonaHP‐UXserv
er
issettoVT100,
theAccessClientshouldalsobesettoVT100.
ThesettingforterminalemulationontheDominionSXisaproperty
associatedwiththeportsettingsforaparticulartargetdevice.Ensurethat
thesettingsforterminalemulationintheclientsoftware,forex
ample,
TelnetorSS
Hclient,arecapableofsupportingthetargetdevice.
