Step One:Usingasteelnishingknife
(4”–6”),generouslyapplyRapidCoat
Lightweighttothesurfaceyouwantto
nish(taperededge).Thencenterand
pressjointtapermlyintothecompound,
removinganyexcessmaterialbehind
thetapeandcreatingagoodbondwith
thegypsumboard.Agenerous“llcoat”
isthenappliedwitha(10”–12”)steel
nishingknifeortroweltohidethetape.
Excessmaterialisremovedbyfeathering
thecenterandedgesofthejoint.Apply
enoughRapidCoatLightweighttoll
cornerbeadsandnail/screwdimples.
Removeexcessmaterial.Ifnecessary,
applysecondcoatwhendry.RapidCoat
Lightweightcanbeappliedupto1/4in.
thickwithoutcracking.
Step Two: Anishcoatmaybeapplied
whentheStepOneapplicationis
thoroughlydry(approximately24hours).
Materialisdryifnoprintsappearwhen
surfaceispressedlightlywithngertips.A
thincoatofthejointcompoundisapplied
overtheStepOneapplicationwitha
(10”–12”)steelnishingknifeortrowel
atawidthadequatetollanyvoidsor
shallowspots.Excessmaterialisremoved
byfeatheringthecenterandedgesofthe
joint.Surfacecanbesandedorpaintedin
approximately24hours.
Note:Notrecommendedforusewith
meshtape.Fornishingwithmeshtape,
useRapidJoint
®
setting-typecompounds.
Sandingisnotrequiredbetween
applicationsunlesstheworkisrough.
Lightsanding,afterStepTwo,should
bedoneafterapplicationisthoroughly
dry(180–220gritsandpaperormesh
clothrecommended).Wetsandingis
recommendedtoavoidcreatingdust.
RapidCoatLightweightcanbeusedto
skimcoatgypsumboardwalls.Askim
coatleavesathinlmofjointcompound
overtheentiregypsumboardsurface,
llsimperfectionsandeliminatestexture
dierencesbetweenthegypsumboard
andthejointcompound.Skimcoating
isrecommendedforroomswithcritical
lightingconditions.
Paintingshouldnotproceeduntil
jointcompoundisthoroughlydry
(SeeGA-236).Forbestresults,agood
qualitygypsumboardprimershould
beapplied,inaccordancewith
manufacturer’sinstructions,before
paintingorwallpapering.
Usingasteelnishingknife(4”–6”),
generouslyapplyRapidCoatLightweight
tobothsidesoftheinsidecorner.Fold
jointtapealongcentercreaseandpress
rmlyintocenteroftheinsidecorner.
Removeanyexcessmaterialbehindthe
tapeandcreateagoodbondwiththe
gypsumboard.Allowcompoundtodry
thoroughly.Applysecondcoattooneside,
allowtodryandapplytooppositeside.
Allowcompoundtodrythoroughlybefore
sandingorpainting.
RapidCoatLightweightcanbeappliedto
llcornerbeadsandnail/screwdimples.A
secondcoatmaybeapplied,ifnecessary,
whendry.
RapidCoatLightweightwashesoeasily
withwarmwater.Toolsshouldbedried
thoroughlytopreventrusting.
