1. Before You Start... Personal Safety This User Guide covers a number of different models. Although some of the illustrations will look different to your particular model the functions will be the same. We hope the meaning is clear. n n Your cooker should give you many years of trouble-free cooking if installed and operated correctly. It is important that you read this section before you start, particularly if you have not used a ceramic cooker before.
n Fig. 1.1 Make sure to use adequately sized pans with flat bottoms that are large enough to cover the surface of the hotplate heating area. Using undersized pans will expose a portion of the hotplate surface to direct contact and may result in the ignition of clothing. Never leave the hotplate unattended at high heat settings. Pans boiling over can cause smoking, and greasy spills may catch on fire. Use a deep fat thermometer whenever possible to prevent fat overheating beyond the smoking point. ArtNo.
Do not stand or rest heavy objects on the hob. Although the ceramic surface is very strong, a sharp blow or sharp falling object (e.g. a salt cellar) might cause the surface to crack or break (Fig. 1.3). n Fig. 1.3 ArtNo.312-0001 Not cooking surface Should a crack appear in the surface, disconnect the appliance immediately from the supply and arrange for its repair. Always LIFT pans off the hob. Sliding pans may cause marks and scratches (Fig. 1.4).

Cooker Overview DocNo.020-0002 - Overview - 90 Ceramic - Generic Fig. 2.1 A B Mode TOP OVEN C Shelf Position 4 Shelf Position 2 1 flat shelf Shelf Position 3 Shelf Position 1 Shelf Position 5 Shelf Position 4 Shelf Position 3 Shelf Position 2 Shelf Position 1 D MAIN OVEN 2 flat shelves The 60 ceramic cooker (Fig. 2.1) has the following features: Fig. 2.2 A. A ceramic hob B. A control panel C. A conventional top oven and grill D.
Always use pans that are the same size as (or slightly larger than) the areas marked on the hob top (Fig. 2.4). Using smaller pans wastes heat, and any spillage will be burnt on. Using a lid will help the contents boil more quickly. Fig. 2.4 Always lift pans off the hob (Fig. 2.5). Sliding pans may cause marks and scratches. Always turn the control to the ‘OFF’ position before removing a pan. n ArtNo.312-0006 Correct pan sizes Take care when placing hot lids onto the hob surface.
The Top Oven (Grill) Fig. 2.8 Turn the top oven control clockwise to select either of the grill functions, indicated by the graphics around the knob. The indicator light will illuminate to signify that the grill is on (Fig. 2.8). It will then cycle on and off during grilling. Open the door and attach the grill pan handle (Fig. 2.9). Ensure the grill pan handle is centralised and secure. Pull the grill pan forward using the handle (Fig. 2.10) and remove from the grill chamber. n Fig. 2.
The Shelf Supports (Top Oven) Fig. 2.12 Clean the accessories thoroughly with warm water, detergent and a soft clean cloth on first use. 4 2 • Insert the accessory to the correct position inside the oven (Fig. 2.12). • Take care removing cookware and/or accessories out of the oven. Hot meals or accessories can cause burns. • The accessories may deform with heat. Once they have cooled down, they will recover their original appearance and performance. • Level 3 is recommended for grill cooking.
The Main Oven / Grill Fig. 2.13 The clock must be set to the time of day before the main oven will work. See the following section on ‘Using the Clock’ for instructions on setting the time of day. Multi-function oven The main oven is a multi-function oven (Fig. 2.15). Multi-function ovens have an oven fan and oven fan element, as well as two extra heating elements. One element is in the top of the oven and the second is under the oven base.
Oven Functions Fan Oven (Main Oven Only) This function operates the fan and the heating element around it. An even heat is produced throughout the oven, allowing you to cook large amounts quickly. Top and Base Heating This function combines the heat from the top and base elements. It is particularly suitable for roasting and baking pastry, cakes and biscuits. ArtNo.
Operating the Main Oven Fig. 2.15 Multi-function Oven The multi-function oven has two controls: a function selector and a temperature setting knob (Fig. 2.15). Turn the function selector control to a cooking function. The indicator light will illuminate to signify that the oven is on. Turn the oven temperature knob to the temperature required, indicated by the graphics around the knob. (Fig. 2.16). Fig. 2.
Using the Clock Fig. 2.17 You can use the clock to turn the main oven on and off. The clock must be set to the time of day before the oven will work. Mode Note: When using the timer functions, first set the clock as required before setting the oven temperature. ArtNo.306-0001 - 3-button clock The oven can be switched on when the cook symbol [ ] is displayed. Fig. 2.18 Setting the Clock 1. The LCD clock is shown in (Fig. 2.17).

Adjust the time using the [+] or [-] buttons. 3. When the finish time is reached an alarm will sound. 4. Press any button to stop the alarm. Mode ArtNo.306-0001 - 3-button clock Fig. 2.23 To Start and Then Stop the Main Oven Set the main oven to automatically start and stop using a combination of the ‘cook period’ and ‘stop time’.
Oven Accessories Fig. 2.26 In addition to the grill pan and handle, the ovens are supplied with three flat shelves (Fig. 2.26). One in the top oven and two in the main oven. The oven shelves can be easily removed and refitted. Gently pull the shelf forward until the shelf stop; meets the oven sides (Fig. 2.27). Tilt the front of the shelf upwards until the shelf stop is clear of the oven sides and then gently pull forward (Fig. 2.28). Fig. 2.
3. Cooking Tips Tips on Cooking with the Timer General Oven Tips If you want to cook more than one dish, choose dishes that require approximately the same cooking time. However, dishes can be ‘slowed down’ slightly by using small containers and covering them with aluminium foil, or ‘speeded up’ slightly by cooking smaller quantities or placing them in larger containers. The wire shelves should always be pushed firmly to the back of the oven.
4. Cooking Table The oven control settings and cooking times given in the table below are intended to be used as a guide only. Individual tastes may require the temperature to be altered to provide a preferred result. Food is cooked at lower temperature in a fan oven than in a conventional oven. When using recipes, reduce the fan oven temperature by 10 °C and the cooking time by 5-10 minutes. The temperature in the fan oven does not vary with height in the oven so you can use any shelf.
5. Cleaning Your Cooker DocNo.042-0003 - Cleaning - CE 90 - GENERIC Isolate the electricity supply before carrying out any major cleaning. Allow the cooker to cool. n Never use paint solvents, washing soda, caustic cleaners, biological powders, bleach, chlorine based bleach cleaners, coarse abrasives or salt. n Do not mix different cleaning products – they may react together with hazardous results. Fig. 5.
Top Oven (Grill) Fig. 5.2 The grill pan can be easily removed for cleaning. The grill pan and trivet should be washed in hot soapy water. After grilling meats or any foods that soil, leave to soak for a few minutes immediately after use. Stubborn particles may be removed from the trivet using a nylon brush. Alternatively, the grill pan can be washed in a dishwasher. Fig. 5.3 n Before you remove any of the grill parts for cleaning, make sure that they are cool, or use oven gloves.
Ovens Fig. 5.6 Catalytic Panels The bottom oven has side catalytic panels which have been coated with a special enamel that partly cleans itself. This does not stop all marks on the lining, but helps to reduce the amount of manual cleaning needed. 1. a These panels work better above 200 °C. If you do most of your cooking below this temperature, occasionally remove the panels and wipe with a lint free cloth and hot soapy water.
6. n Troubleshooting Interference with and repairs to the hob MUST NOT be carried out by unqualified persons. Do not try to repair the hob as this may result in injury and damage to the hob. Please arrange for repair by a suitably competent person. The timed oven is not coming on when turned on manually Is the power on? Is the clock illuminated? If not, there may be something wrong with the power supply.
The oven light is not working Fig. 6.1 The bulb has probably blown. Ensure that the replacement bulb is heat resistant to 100 °C (Fig. 6.1). ArtNo.324-0005 Oven light bulb It is recommended that replacement of the oven bulb is carried out by a qualified installer. Before removing the existing bulb, turn off the power supply and make sure that the oven is cool. Open the oven door and remove the oven shelves. Fig. 6.
