8.4CleaningandCare
8.4.1Glass
Mostofthewoodstovesuseaceramicglassproductwhichisresistanttoheatbutrequires
cleaningtokeepitsappearance.
Sootoropaquemarkscanbeeasilycleanedifthemarksarefresh.However,iftheglassleft
dirtyforanylengthoftimetheacidfromthewoodcanetchthesurfaceoftheglass
permanently(wetunseasonedwood,softwoodsuchasusedinthebuildingindustryand
palletwoodshouldbeavoided.
Onlycleanwhencold.
Useonlystoveglasscleanerstoremoveheavytar/sootdeposits.Allothermarkscan
normallyberemovedwithadampcloth,thendrywithacleanclothornewspaper.Donot
lettheglassdrybeforeapplyingadrycleancloth.
Withmorestubbornmarksi.e.opaqueareas/frosting,youneedtoputasmallamountof
woodashonacleandampcloth.Iftheopaquemark/frostingdoesn’tcomeout,contactyou
dealerforaspecialremover.
8.4.2Paintfinish
Theappliancehasbeencoatedwithahightemperaturepaintwhichcanlastforyears.Do
notcleanwithadampclothoranycleaningproductsastheycancauserustordiscoloration.
Onlycleanwhencold,useabrushwithsoftbristlesordustwithalintfreecloth.Onlyre‐
spraywhennecessary.
8.4.3Mechanicalcleaning
Thewoodburningstoveandthechimneymustbeservicebyachimneysweepatleastonce
ayear.Duringcleaningandcare,thestovemustbecold.
8.4.4.Prolongedperiodofnon‐use
Ifthestoveistobeleftunusedforaprolongedperiodoftimethenitshouldbegivena
thoroughleantoremoveashandunburnedfuelresidues.Toenableagoodflowofair
throughtheappliancetoreducecondensationandsubsequentdamageleavetheair
controlsfullyopen.
Priortoanewhatingseasonitshouldbecheckedthatehchimneyandsmokegasconnector
arenotblocked.
