Thefollowingpagesgiveinstructionsforthesafeandproperinstallationofthisheating
applianceintheUK.Theseinstructionscoverthebasicprinciplesofinstall ation,
althoughsomedetailsmayneedslightmodificationtosuitparticularlocalsite
conditions.
InallcasestheinstallationmustcomplywithcurrentUKBuildingRegulations,Local
AuthorityByelawsandotherspecificationsorregulationsastheyaffecttheinstallation
ofthestove.
PleasenotethatitisalegalrequirementunderEnglandandWalesBuilding
RegulationsthattheinstallationofthestoveiseithercarriedoutunderlocalAuthority
BuildingControlapprovalorisinstalledbyaCompetentPersonregisteredwitha
GovernmentapprovedCompetentPersonsScheme.HETASoperatesuchascheme

ItshouldbenotedthatthecurrentBuildingRegulationsrequirementsaregivenin
ApprovedDocumentJ.Theserequirementsmayalsobemetbyadoptingtherelevant
recommendationsgiveninBritishStandardsBS8303,BS6461andBS7566.

TheinstallationofthisheatingapplianceisgovernedbytheHealthandSafetyatWork
Act1974.itistheresponsibilityoftheinstallertoensurethatallrequirementsofthisAct
aremetduringtheinstallationworks.Attentionisdrawninparticulartothefollowing:
Handling: Theapplianceisaheavyitemandadequatefacilitiesmustbeavailable
orloading,unloadingandsitehandling.
FireCement: Sometypesoffirecementarecausticandshouldnotbeallowedto
comeintocontactwiththeskin.Protectiveglovesshouldbewornwhen
handlingfirecement.Incaseofcontactwiththeskin,washimmediately
withplentyofwater.
Asbestos: Thisstovecontainsnoasbestos.Ifthereisapossibilityofdisturbingany
asbestosinthecourseoftheinstallation,thenpleaseseekspecialist
guidanceanduseappropriateprotectiveequipment.
MetalParts: Wheninstallingorservicingthisstovecareshouldbetakentoavoidthe
possibilityofpersonalinjury.
ImportantWarning  PreparatoryWorkandsafetyChecks:
· Thisstovemustnotbeinstalledintoachimneywhichservesanyotherheating
appliance.
· Theremustnotbeanextractorfanfittedinthesameroomasthestove,asthis
cancausethestovetoemitfumesintotheroom.
· Ifthisapplianceisinstalledintoanexistingchimney,thechimneymustfirstbe
sweptandexaminedforsoundnessandsuitability,beforetheapplianceis
· installed(seealsosectionheaded‘Chimney’).
