Testing FCService on a Specified Machine and Port
Use this procedure to verify that the FCService installed is the correct version,
running properly, and configured to run on the specified port.
To test FCService:
1. Telnet to the machine and port to test.
2. Press Enter one or more times.
One of the following occurs:
The message below displays:
FlashCONNECT <version> invalid message
where version is the FCService version running.
A connect failed message displays indicating one of these possible problems:
FCService is not running.
FCService is configured to run on a different port.
A firewall is blocking entry to the machine.
Telnet connects but nothing displays, indicating one of these possible
problems:
Another service (other than FCService) may be listening on the port.
An older FCService version may be listening on the port.
Logging Diagnostic Messages for FCService and
FCSocketServer
You can log diagnostic messages to a file using either of the FCService and
FCSocketServer commands with the -Dn option, where n is any combination of
these values:
Value for n Description
0 Logs constructor and deconstructor diagnostic messages.
1 Logs miscellaneous diagnostic messages.
2 Logs input and output diagnostic messages.
