8 Operating The RAELink3
The RAELink3 operates with two simultaneous modes of data
transfer. First, it can use Bluetooth or a cable to connect to a portable
gas monitor or other compatible detector. Second, it uses radio-
frequency communication to transmit and receive data with a base
station.
The following section covers configuration and operation of the
modem portion of the RAELink3. Refer to page 29 for information on
establishing a link between a RAELink3 and a portable gas monitor
or other detector.
IMPORTANT!
Before operating any RAELink3 modems in the field, test them to
make sure they are properly configured for your network.
Each RAELink3 must have the proper network ID so that it is
compatible with the AreaRAE wireless monitoring system.

The RAELink3 can be configured to operate in one of eight modes:
• Host
• Remote
• Remote G
• Repeater
• LifeShirt
• ChemRAE
• DustTrak
• AP4C
