17. Maintenance
WARNING!
Maintenance should be performed only by a qualified person who has proper
training and fully understands the contents of this manual.
The following guidelines should be followed when changing the battery:
1. Turn off the unit before changing the battery.
2. When replacing the battery, take note of its orientatio n. The connectors on the circuit
board should go into the matching slots in the battery.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of ignition of hazardous atmospheres, replace the battery only in
areas known to be non-hazardous.
17.1. Replacing the ToxiRAE Pro PID Li-Ion Battery
Caution: Turn off the ToxiRAE Pro PID before removing or replacing the battery.
1. If the rubber boot is on the ToxiRAE Pro PID, remove it (refer to page 58 for details).
2. Place the ToxiRAE Pro PID face-down on a soft surface.
3. Use a Philips screwdriver to loosen the screw holding the top cap in place, and then
carefully use the provided tool to pry up the top cap from the middle in the front and
back and use your fingers to remove the top cap.
