Installing WinLink 1000 Management Software
WinLink 1000 management application is distributed on CD-ROM as an
executable file. The application has the following PC requirements:
• Memory: 128 MB RAM
• Disk: 1 GB free hard disk space
• Processor: Pentium 3 or higher
• Network: 10/100BaseT NIC
• Graphics: Card and Monitor that supports 1024×768 screen
resolution with 16 bit color
• Operating system: Windows 2000/XP
• Microsoft Explorer 5.01 or later.

To install the WinLink 1000 management program:
1. Insert the CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
2. If the installation does not start automatically, run *.exe from the
CD-ROM drive.
3. Follow the on screen instructions of the installation wizard to
complete setup of the WinLink 1000 Management program in the
desired location.

To perform initial setup:
1. Power up the site A's IDU (see Connecting the Power on page 2-6 ).
Wait about 1 minute.
2. Power up the site B IDU.
3. Connect the management station to the LAN.
Any PC running the WinLink 1000 Management application can be used
to configure WinLink 1000 units.

To start WinLink 1000 manager:
The ODU communicates with the management application using
SNMPv1 protocol. The protocol defines three types of "passwords"
called communities. These communities are Read-Only community -
for retrieving information from the ODU. A Read-Write community to
configure and control the ODU, and a trap community used by the ODU
