Synchronization Introduction
PoE
Power‐over‐Ethernetdevicescanbeusedtosupplybothpowerandnetwork
communicationstotheTBS,TMU,andtheOSU/ISU/GSUs.RADWINprovidesdifferenttypes
ofAC/DCPoEinjectorsinseveralpowerranges.
IfM12cablingmustbeusedonboard,aspecialPoE‐TMUcableisavailablefromRADWIN.
AlternativelyRADWINTBS/TMU/OSUcanbeconnecteddirectlytoastandard802.3at(PoE+)
device.ItisalwaysadvisedtoconsultwithRADWINprofessionalservicesforthebestpower
solutionforyourproject.
1.2.3Synchronization
• TheTBS'snetworkissynchronizedeitherviaGPS‐basedsystem(forabovegroundsce‐
narios)orviaEthernet‐basedsynchronization(foraboveorundergroundscenarios).
• ForGPSbasedsynchronization,theTBS’sintegratedGPSSynchronizationUnitisused.If
thisisnotpossible,theGSUcanbeused.
• Ethernet‐basedsynchronizationrunsov
erthesamedatabackhaulnetwork.Theimple‐
mentationofthesynchronizationprotocolisviaanIndoorSynchronization Unit(ISU)or
OutdoorSynchronizationUnit(OSU)thatisconnectedtooneofthenetworkswitches,
andprovidesthemasterclocktoallTBSsinthenetwork.
