TMU(transportationmobileunit)radiosoperateon‐board,andtransmitto/receivefrom
TBSsinstalledonwaysidepolesorwallstoprovidecommunicationconnectionsforon‐board
equipmentsuchasroutersandWiFidevices.
TwoTMUs(bestpractice)areinstalled onthetrain(oneateachend),areconnectedtothe
traininternalnetwork,andmaintaincontinuouscommunicationslinkwiththerelevantTBS.
TheTMUtoTBSconnectionestablishesanEthernetbroadbandnetworkbetweenthetrain
andthecorenetwork,whichcanbeusedforUplink/Downlinkbasedservices.
