ThemajorcomponentsoftheTransportationFiberinMotionsolutionaredescribedbelow:
TBS
TBS(transportationbasestation)radiosareOFDM/MIMO3x3,IP‐67compliantoutdoorunits
placedatfixedlocationsalongthewaysideandcommunicatewithTMUs(Transportation
MobileUnits)installedonboardtrains/metrossoastoensureconsistentandreliable
broadbandradiocoverage.
EachTBSisconnectedtoanEthernetswitch,whichisconnectedinturntothewiredbackhaul
network.TheTBSsaresynchronizedtoacommontimebasetoavoidpotentialmutualradio
interferencesandallowfasthandover.
TBSantennas
Althoughtherearemanydifferenttypesofantennas(seeAppendixA,AntennaGuidelinesfor
alistofantennas),werecommendusingflatdualpolarizationandsinglepolarization
antennaspereachdirection.Thisallowsatotalof6RFchainstobeconnected,while
minimizingthenumberofantennas.
