DryWay Water-Repellent Concrete Sealer
Page 1 of 2 DryWay Application Instructions rev. 12/15/10
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
PREPARATION
The substrate must be structurally sound, thoroughly clean and dry. Remove all paints, sealers, or adhesives. Clean
off oil, grease, dirt, wax, curing compounds, efflorescence, and other contaminants that might interfere with sealer
penetration.
If acid is used for cleaning, neutralize completely the surface and rinse with water before application.
New concrete must be cured at least 28 days.
Protect people, vehicles, property, plants, windows, and all non-masonry surfaces from the sealer, splash, residue,
and wind drift. Divert foot and auto traffic.
CONDITIONS
Moisture inhibits penetration of the sealer, reducing the service life and performance of the treatment. After a rain, let
dry for at least 24 hours. Do not apply outdoors when rain is expected within 24 hours.
Air and surface temperatures should be between 45 and 90 °F during application and for at least 8 hours after. Do not
apply to hot surfaces in direct sunlight, or in strong wind.
TOOLS
Low-pressure sprayer (hand-pump garden sprayer or adjustable airless) with a fan tip nozzle, or a paint roller.
APPLICATION
Thoroughly shake the pail prior to opening and shake the filled hand-pump sprayer before application.
More porous surfaces may need two or more applications. Spray on additional applicationswet on wet” 5 to 10
minutes apart.
VERTICAL APPLICATION
Spray on from the bottom up creating a 4–6” controlled rundown below the spray contact point.
Do not over-apply. Spread out any runs or drips that do not penetrate with a roller or brush.
HORIZONTAL APPLICATION
Apply a saturating film on the verge of puddling. Roll or broom out any puddles until the sealer penetrates into the
substrate.
DRYING & CURING
The surface will dry to touch in one to two hours. Avoid foot or vehicle traffic until dry.
Water-repellent properties develop after 72 hours. Sealed surfaces will shed water or bead.
Depending on the substrate and application, the sealed surface may have a slightly darker shade.
RE-APPLICATION
The surface will continue to shed water and protect the substrate for years, whether or not it beads.
The sealer adheres well to itself. It can be re-applied to increase beading or to restore water-shedding.
