Appendix F -
Flash Formatting Software
This Appendix contains instructions for the use of Flash memory on the EPC-33/34.
This software is used to format a resident Flash array (RFA) such as the one present
on the EPC-33/34. Command line options for the device driver and syntax for the
formatting command are included here for completeness.
Included here is an overview of TrueFFS, followed by installation instructions, some
conformance information, and a section describing how to use the Flash formatting
software. There is information about troubleshooting at the end of this section.
Portions of Appendix F are copyrighted by M-Systems, Inc.
An Overview of TrueFFS
TrueFFS provides full disk emulation of Flash memory devices for DOS-compatible
machines.
TrueFFS runs on MS-DOS or PC-DOS, Version 2.0 or higher, Windows and DR
DOS.
To be active, TrueFFS should be installed and resident on the computer in the form
of a device driver or terminate-and-stay-resident (TSR) program. Once TrueFFS is
installed, it may be used to read from and write to the Flash medium. In fact, the full
DOS functionality available for floppy disks is available for the Flash medium as
well. Files can be copied, viewed, or executed, directories can be created, and so on.
