RTM overview
TheATCA‐5400RTMisanoptionalcompatiblereartransitionmodulefortheATCA‐4500,
ATCA‐4550,andATCA‐4555CPMfrontmodulethatsuppliestheCPMwithadditionaldata
storageandconnectivityoptions.
TheRTMhasanon‐boardSAS/SATAcontrollerandcanhostanoptionalSASharddiskdrive
(HDD).ThecontrollercanaccessanHDDAMCifoneisinstalledontheCPM.TheRTMalso
includestworearpanelSASportstoallowcableconnectionstoadditionalharddiskdrives,
suchasharddiskdrivesaccessiblefromanotherRTM.TheSAS/SATAcontrollersupportsRAID
(redundantarrayofinexpensivedisks),includingRAID0(striping)andRAID1(mirroring)
configurations.

TheRTMhastwo1‐gigabitEthernetSFPsocketsonitsfaceplatethatcanfacilitateexternal
connectionsthroughtheRTMtotheCPM.TheserearEthernetportsareusablewhenthe
EthernetcontrollerontheCPMisconfiguredthroughaBIOSmenusettingtoroutethe

TheRS‐232serialportontheRTMprovidesamanagementinterfacetotheCPM.TheRTM
alsoincludesaUSB2.0portthatconnectstotheCPM.
Amodulemanagementcontroller(MMC)providesintelligentmanagementoftheRTM
hardware,includingitsmanagedsensors.TheMMCrespondstoresetsignalsfromtheCPM
aswellasIPMIcommands.
