5. SelecttheoptionforthetypeofRAIDtocreate:
a. SelectCreateIMVolumetosetupaRAID1mirroringvolume.
SelecttwoRAIDharddiskdrivestoactastheprimaryandsecondarymirrorharddisk
drives,andoptionallyuptotwohotsparesincasetheprimaryorsecondaryfails.
Thefirstharddiskdriveyouselectistheprimaryharddiskdrive,whichallowsthe
optiontokeepexistingdata.Dataonasecondaryharddiskdriveisdeleted.
b. SelectCreateIMEVolumetosetupaRAID1Evolumeformirroringwith
enhancements.
SelectatleastthreeRAIDharddiskdrivestoparticipateinthearray,anduptotwohot
sparesincaseaparticipatingharddiskdrivefails.
Thefirstharddiskdriveyouselectistheprimaryharddiskdrive,whichallowsthe
optiontokeepexistingdata.Dataoneachsecondaryharddiskdrive isdeleted.
c. SelectCreateISVolumetosetupaRAID0stripingvolume.
Selectatleast3harddiskdrivestoincludeinthearray,withamaximumof10.Dataon
eachharddiskdriveinastripingarrayisdeleted.
Note:WhentwopairsofRTMsandCPMsarecabledtogether,theharddiskdrivesare
identifiedintheSASBIOSscreensbyslotnumberinsteadofthe SAS/SATAportnumber.
Theidentificationisasfollows:
Slot0:LocalRTMharddiskdrive(ontheRTMcontrollingtheRAID)
Slot1:LocalHDDAMCharddiskdrive
Slot2:RemoteRTMharddiskdrive(whenacustomcrossovercableisused)
Slot3:RemoteHDDAMCharddiskdrive(whenacustomcrossov ercableisused)
Whenastandardcrossovercableisused,slots0and1remainthesamebutslots2
and3identifyanexternalharddiskdrivearray.
TheslotnumberscorrespondtotheSAS/SATAcontrollerportnumbersinFigure3on
page16.
6. Completethearrayconfigurationbypre ssingC.
7. Savethechangeswhenprompted.
Note:Whenonearrayhasbeenconfigured,usetheManageArrayoptiontoview,delete,or
modifythehotsparesinthearray.Whenmultiplearrayshavebeenconfigured,usetheView
ExistingArrayoptiontoselectandmanageanarray.
