seatedandtheSFPsnapsintoposition.
8. Repeatthepreviousstepsforeachtransceiverbeinginstalled.
9. Fortransceiverswithcableplugsinstalledontheircableend,keeptheplugsinplaceuntil
itistimetoconnectcablestothetransceivers.Thecableplugsprotecttheinternal
componentsofthetransceiversfromdustandforeigncontaminants.
Note:IfanSFPneedstoberemoved,openthelatchandpulltheSFPoutofthesocket.
Filler plug installation
IftheSFPtransceiversareremoved,installeitherreplacementtransceiversorfillerplugsto
protectthesockets,controlairflow,andpreventelectromagneticinterference.
Installing a hard disk drive
RadisysshipstheRTMwithoutaharddiskdrive(HDD)installed.AseparateHDDcanbe
orderedfromRadisysandinstalledontothe RTMpriortoinstallingtheRTMintotheshelf.For
informationonsuitableharddiskdrives,seetheComponentCompatibilityReportinthe
AdvancedTCAdownloadssectionoftheWebsiteatwww.Radisys.com/downloads.
TheRTMshipswithasledforslidingtheHDDintothecorrectmountingpositionontheRTM
(seeFigure2onpage12).ToinstalltheHDDontheRTM,firstattachtheHDDtothedrivesled
withtheprovidedscrewsandthenmountthesledandHDDontotheRTM.Thefollowing
sectionsexplaintheinstallationprocedure.
Beforestarting:Getamedium‐sizePhillipsscrewdriverandasuitableHDD.
Attaching the drive sled to the HDD
1. ObeytheESDgroundingproceduresinElectrostaticdischargeonpage7.
2. Placethedrivesledonastatic‐freesurfacewiththeretainingscrewattheleft(screw
headup).SeeFigure2onpage12.
3. Placetheharddiskdrive(HDD)componentsidedownonthedrivesledwiththeHDD
SAS/SATAconnectorattheright.
4. HoldtheHDDanddrivesledtogether.Turnthemupsidedowntoaccessthescrewholes.
5. ScrewthefoursuppliedM3screwsthroughthesledholesshowninFigure2onpage12
andintothecorrespondingholesontheHDD.
6. TurntheHDDanddrivesledright‐sideupsotheretainingscrewheadfacesup.
