Installing previous firmware or software versions
Thischapterdescribesuseofthefirmwareandtoolscomprisedinanupdatebundle.
Firmwareistheimagethatisappliedtothehardware,andtoolsaretheupdatescriptsthat
applythefirmwaretothehardware.
Thelatestversionoftoolsshouldbeusedforupgradesanddowngrades.Insomecases,
though,youmaywanttokeeptheversionofthefirmwarethesameinthebundle,but
replacethetoolsifnewertoolsaddressproblemsyouhaveexperiencedwiththecurrent
tools.
Therfw‐mergeutilityreplacesthetoolsintheolderbundlewiththetoolsinthenewer
bundle,creatinganewmergedbundlewiththeoldfirmwareandnewtools.Youupgradeor
downgradetofirmwareorsoftwareversionspriortothe currentreleaseusingthisrelease’s
updateutilities.
Important:OnlyLMPmodules(theATCA‐1200,ATCA‐2210,ATCA‐7220,andATCA‐9100)are
downgradedusingrfw‐merge.ACPM,suchastheATCA‐4500,doesnotrequireamerged

Required arguments
<older‐bundle>
Firmwarebundlefile(.tgz)containingthesourcefirmwareimages.
<newer‐bundle>
Firmwarebundlefile(.tgz)containingthesourcetools(forexample,rsys‐update and
rsys‐ipmitool).
