Selecting the update order
Theorderthatmodulesandcomponentsareupdatedisdeterminedbyanumberofsetups.
•Theupdateorderiscontrolledintheconf.rfwfiletoestablishphasegroups.
•Therfwupdateutilityusesitsownrulestoordermultiplemoduleswithinthephase
groups(seeSetupphasegroupsonpage 22
fordetails)
.
•Theupdateordermayalsobecontrolledbyconfiguringmultiplerfwupdatefilestorun
sequentially.Thisallowsmanualupdatestooccurbetweensteps,ifnecessary.
Whenyouselectanupdateorder,thefollowingconstraintsshouldbekeptinmind:
•Placeamodulethatprovidesnetworkconnectivitytoothermodulesinitsownphase
group.Theupdateprocessforothermodulesmaybedisruptedwhenthemodule
reboots.
•Thedefaultsettingistoupdatebothbanksofredundantcomponents.SeeUpdatingboth
banksaboutthisdef aultsettingandhowtosetupconf.rfwtoupdateasinglebank.

Updating both banks
Someupdatablecomponentsareredundant,whichmeanstheyhavetwobankscontaining
separatefirmwareloads.Bydefault,therfwupdateutilityautomaticallyupdatesbothbanks
tothesamefirmwareusingtheimageinthebundle.
Toupdateasinglebankofaredundantcomponent,specifyupdatebanks:singleinthe
configurationfile.SeeConfigurationfi lesyntaxonpage 78fordetails.
Iftheupdatebanks:singleoptionisused,seethesetbankoptiontospecifywhichboot
bankisactiveduringtheupdate.Therfwupdateutilityupdatesthenonactivebank.For
example,if
setbank:0isspecifiedthenbank1isupdated.
