Selecting the update order
Theorderthatmodulesandcomponentsareupdatedisdeterminedbyanumberofsetups.
•Theupdateorderiscontrolledintheconf.rfwfiletoestablishphasegroups.
•Therfw‐updateutilityusesitsownrulestoordermultiplemoduleswithinthephase
groups(seeSetupphasegroupsonpage 22
fordetails)

•Theupdateordermayalsobecontrolledbyconfiguringmultiplerfw‐updatefilestorun
sequentially.Thisallowsmanualupdatestooccurbetweensteps,ifnecessary.
Whenyouselectanupdateorder,thefollowingconstraintsshouldbekeptinmind:
•Placeamodulethatprovidesnetworkconnectivitytoothermodulesinitsownphase
group.Theupdateprocessforothermodulesmaybedisruptedwhenthemodule
reboots.
•Thedefaultsettingistoupdatebothbanksofredundantcomponents.SeeUpdatingboth
banksaboutthisdef aultsettingandhowtosetupconf.rfwtoupdateasinglebank.

Updating both banks
Someupdatablecomponentsareredundant,whichmeanstheyhavetwobankscontaining
separatefirmwareloads.Bydefault,therfw‐updateutilityautomaticallyupdatesbothbanks
tothesamefirmwareusingtheimageinthebundle.
Toupdateasinglebankofaredundantcomponent,specifyupdate‐banks:singleinthe
configurationfile.SeeConfigurationfi lesyntaxonpage 78fordetails.
Iftheupdate‐banks:singleoptionisused,seetheset‐bankoptiontospecifywhichboot
bankisactiveduringtheupdate.Therfw‐updateutilityupdatesthenon‐activebank.For
example,if
set‐bank:0isspecifiedthenbank1isupdated.
