IPMI-over-LAN
AremotemanagementapplicationcanestablishanIPMIoverLANsessionwiththeIPMC.
TheIPMCisremotelyaccessiblethroughthefrontserialport(COM1),therearserialport
(COM2),andtheBaseEthernetports.TheCPMimplementsIPMIoverLANusingRMCP
andRMCP+asdescribedintheIPMI2.0specification.TheIPMIoverLANsessioncanbe
usedtoenablethefunctionalitydescribedinSerialoverLANonpage 65.
Configuring IPMI-over-LAN access
TheCPMmustbeinitiallyconfiguredtomakeIPMIoverLANaccessavailable.TheIPMC
savestheconfigurationchangesinnonvolatileRAMsotheyarenotlostduringreboots,
hotswaps,orfirmwareupgrades.
Before you begin
1. Gatherthefollowingresources:
•AremotecomputerwithnetworkaccesstotheShelfManagerintheshelfwiththe
CPM.

•Anrsysipmitoolutility(availableonthePromentumsoftwareinstallationCD).
