TheCPMsupportsvariousversionsoftheIntelXeon5500and5600seriesprocessors.The
processorhasanintegratedmemorycontrollerandtwopointtopointQuickpath
Interconnect(QPI)interfacesforI/OHub(IOH)andCPUconnectivity.Theprocessorcores
sharean8MBcacheandsupportSSE2,SSE3andSSE4streamingSIMD(SingleInstruction,
MultipleData)extensions.Theextensionsenhancetheperformanceofoptimized
applicationslikevideo,imageprocessing,andmediacompression.
Note:TheCPMdoesnotusetheCPU’sturboboostfeature.
TheCPUincludestheExecuteDisableBit,64bittechnology,IntelSpeedStep®,
virtualizationtechnologyandsimultaneousmultithreading.Theprocessoralsofeaturesa
loopstreamdetectorthatgreatlyincreasesloopexecutionspeed.Table 3andTable 4

Adaptive thermal monitor for processor protection
TheCPUcasetemperaturemustremainwithinthespecifiedoperatingrangeinorderto
maintainreliabi lityoverthelifeoftheprocessor.TheCPUincludesanadaptivethermal
monitor(ATM)tohelpcontroltheprocessortemperature.TheATMselectsbetween
voltageandfrequencycontrol(IntelSpeedStep®)andinternalclockmodulationto
reduce
processorpowerandtoactivatethethermalcontrolcircuitry.
