Updating FRU data on the ATCA-6006 5U 6-slot shelf

Important:FortheATCA‐6006shelftorun3.3.0andlater,theshelfFRUdataupdateis

mandatory.First,updatetheshelfFRUdatatover sion3.3.0asdescribedinthissection.Next,

customizetheATCA‐6006FRUdatausingCustomizingFRU‐specificdataonpage 51.F inally,

useUpdatingFRUdataonpage 49toapplythechangestothecustomizedfieldsandperform

anyfurtherupdates.

UsethisproceduretoupdatetheATCA‐6006shelfFRUdatato3.3.0.

1. ObtainthenecessaryfilesandtoolsfromtheATCA3.3.0softwareCDimage:

a. DecompresstheATCA‐6xxx.tgzfi leandtheATCA‐2210fileendingin<version>.tgz.

b. WithintheATCA‐6xxxdirectory,navigatedownthe directorytreeandcopytheATCA‐

6006filethatendsin<version>.sf.ThisistheshelfFRUtemplatefile.

c. WithintheATCA‐2210directory,navigatetothefirmware/ipmidirectoryandcopythe

frugen<version>.plutility.ThisistheFRUimagecreationtool.

d. Renamethecopyofthefrugen<version>.plutilitytofrugen.pl.

2. ObtainthenecessaryshelfFRUdata:

a. UsethiscommandfromaremotecomputerconnectedtotheSCMthatisrunningthe

activeShelfManager:

rsys‐ipmitool‐Ilan‐H<IP_addr>‐Anone‐t0x66fruprint1

<IP_addr>canbetheShelfManagerIPaddressortheIPaddressoftheactiveSCM.

b. Gatherthevaluesoftheseitems:

3. MakeabackupcopyoftheshelfFRUtemplatefile.

4. Usingatexteditor,opentheshelfFRUtemplatefileandmodifyitasfollows.

Important:

Foreachtextstringmodifiedinthestepsthatfollow,donotchangethe

originalnumberofcharactersbetweenthequotationmarks(““).Inmostcases,the

numberofcharactersnormallyusedforthefieldisshownbyplaceholdercharacters(such

as'X'),andtheseshouldbereplaced.Theremainderofthestringisblankspaces,and

thesenormallydonotneedtochange.

a. SearchforthestringCHASSIS.

b. LocateandmodifytheChassisPartNumberline:
