Domain alarm table entries
Thealarmstringsarebasedontheassociatedsensorevents.Textwithinthealarmstring
indicatestheFRUlocation,sensornumber, andseverityofthesensorevent.Thereference
manualsforeachmodulecontaindetailedinformationontheirassociatedsensors.
Thedomainalarmtable(DAT)canholdamaximumof1024alarmentries.Thealarmentries
includesystemalarms,whicharegeneratedautomatically,andanyuser‐definedalarms.
SystemalarmswilldisplayadescriptionofACTIVE(*)wheninanunacknowledgedstate.The
(*)indicatesthatthealarmhasnotyetbeenacknowledged.User‐definedalarms,how ever,
willshowadescriptionofACTIVE()eveninanunacknowledgedstate,becauseitisassumed
theuserisawareoftheconditionthattheydefined.
Assigning event severities
Theeventsgenerate dbysensorsareassignedseveritiesautomatically,butyoucanoverride
thedefaultsettingsbyassigningnewseveritiestospecificeventsgeneratedbyindividual
sensors.Youcanassignseveritiestodiscrete,digital,andOEMsensors(withtheexceptionof
IPMBsensors).
Toassignseverities,addentriestotheShelfManageralarmconfigurationfile
(/etc/shmgralarm.conf)ontheShelfManagermoduleortheSCMhostingtheactiveShelf
Manager.Eachentryappliestoasinglesensor,althoughthesensormayapplytomultipleof
thesametypeofFRUintheshelf.Forexample,achangetotheseverityofafansensorevent
wouldapplytoallofthefansintheshelfifthefansareidenticalandarerunningthesame
firmwareversion.
Asanexampleofaseveritychange,ifthedefaultseverityofmajorforthePEMpowerfault
eventisnotsuitable,itcanbechangedtocritical,minor,orinformational.
Changingtheseverityaffects:
•Theevententryinthedomaineventlogandtheshelf’ssystemeventlog.
•Thepresenceofanalarmandthealarmseverityinthedomainalarmtable.Critical,major,
andminoreventsareincludedintheDATasalarms.InformationalandOK
eventsarenot
includedintheDAT.
•Anyaudiblealarms,LEDs,ordisplaysthatindicatethepresenceofalarmsforthe
platform.
