Shelf Manager role in alarm management
TheShelfManagermonitorsconditionsofmodulesandothershelfcomponentsandcontrols
theiroperationtokeepthemworkingproperly.Itmonitorsthestatusoftheshelfandcorrects
problemswhennecessary.TheShelfManagerreportseventsandanomaliestoasystem
managerandrespondstoactionrequestsfromthesystemmanager.
Aspartofthisfunction,theShelfManagermaintainsthedomainalarmtable(DAT),alistofall
activealarms.Alarmsareadded tothetablewhenaconditionasserts,andareremovedwhen
theconditiondeasserts.TheShelfManageralsoperformstelcoalarmmanagementas
definedintheAdvancedTCABaseSpecification.
Thehardwareplatforminterface(HPI)providesastandardapplicationprogramminginterface
(API)betweenthesystemmanagerandtheShelfManager.ThisAPIallowsthesystem
managertosubscribetosensorevents,interactwiththeDAT,andreadthedomaineventlog.
Note:ThereisnophysicalalarmsupportontheATCA6002shelf.Alarmsarestilladdedtothe
HPIdomainalarmtablebuttherearenophysicalalarmindicators(suchasLEDsoraudible
sounds)available.
