Changing the shelf address
Thefirst4bytesoftheshelfaddressshouldbechangedmanuallytouniquelyidentifythe
shelfaccordingtoitslocation.
Note:Whenchangingtheshelfaddress,donotdeviatefromtheaddressformatdefinedin
Radisysshelfaddressformat(below).Deviationsfromthisformatcancausethefruinfofail
alarmontheShelfManagermodule,whichcausesallmodulestobootupindebugmode.
TheaddressofaRadisysshelfisstoredintheMultiRecordareaoftheshelfFRUdevice’s
addresstable.Youcanchangetheshelfaddressusinganyofthefollowingmethods:
•UsingCLIcommands.Enter:
platformmgmt
controls
configureshelfaddressnumeric
•UsingthestandardPICMGcommandsGet/SetShelfAddressInfo(seethe
AdvancedTCABaseSpecification).
•UsingthestandardHPIshelfaddresscontrol(control0x1000)locatedinthe shelfresource
(ResourceId0x01).
•UsingtheSNMPvariablessaHpiCtrlTextMode.0xffffffff.1.f alse.0x1000and
saHpiCtrlTextState.0xffffffff.1.false.0x1000fromtheHPIB0101MIBmodule.Firstsetthe
textcontrolmodefortheshelfaddresstomanual(2).Thensetthetextcontrolstatetothe
newshelfaddressinhex.Finally,setthemodebacktoauto(1).
•Usingthehpiappexampleapplicationinteractivelyorasaprogrammaticexamplefor
writingyourapplications.
Radisys shelf address format
Ofthe20bytesthatPICMGdefinesfortheshelfaddress,theRadisysshelvesusethefirst6
bytes,asshowninTable 6.Theremaining14bytesaresettozerosbydefault.TheDHCP
serverusesthefirst6 bytesoftheshelfaddresstoallocateuniqueIPaddressesacross
multipleshelves.
Note:Bytes4and5oftheshelfaddress areusedtocreatetheMACidentifierfortheBase
interconnectinterface.IftheshelfaddressisnotconfiguredfollowingtheRadisysformat,the
BaseinterconnectinterfacewillnotbeconfigurableusingDHCP.
