Configuring HPI behavior
ThissectiondescribestheHPIconfigurationsettingsyoucanchangebyeditingHPIserver
daemonparameters(parameterswiththeprefixHSD)inthe/etc/shmgr.conffile.
Setting the HPI redundancy mode
TheHSD_SHM_NON_REDUNDANTparameterin/etc/shmgr.confletsyouspecifywhetherHPI
operatesnon‐redundantly(withoutasecondSCMinstalled).
Configuring HPI alarms
Thefollowingparametersin/etc/shmgr.confletyouconfigureHPIalarms:
• HSD_ALARM_MANAGER_ENABLEenablesalarmstobecommunicatedtothealarm
managermodule.OnRadisysshelves,thisincludesthetelcoalarmcontactsandtheshelf
displaypanel(SDP)ontheATCA‐6000shelf.
• HSD_DAT_DISABLEdisablestheHPIdomainalarmtable(DAT),whichalsodisablestheHPI
alarmmodule.TheDATcontainsthecurrentfaultconditions.Disablingitpreventsnew
alarmsfrombeingaddedtoit,andrendersthealarmmoduleuseless.
• HSD_ALARM_SITE_TYPEsetstheSiteTypeforthealarmmoduleinhexadecimal.The
defaultis0xC1,whichidentifiestheSDP.Thealarmmodulewillbedisabledifthesitetype
issetto0xFF,orifthesitetypeisnotfound inshelfaddresstable.
• HSD_MAX_USER_ALARM_ENTRIESsetsthemaximumnumberofalarmsthatuserscan
manuallyaddtotheDAT.Thedefaultis50,andthemaximumis512.
Y Enablesnon‐redundantHPIoperation.Donotenablethisparameterunlessthe
shelfistobeoperatedwithonlyoneSCMinstalledoriftheshelfistheATCA‐6002.
SettingthisparametertoYdisablestheHPInon‐redundancyalarmandhasno
effectontheShelfManager.
NDefault.HPIoperatesredundantly.
YDefault.Enablesthealarmmodule.Inaddition,HSD_DAT_DISABLEmustbeset
to“n”,andHSD_ALARM_SITE_TYPEmustbesettoavalidvalueforthealarm
managertobeenabled.
N Disablesthealarmmodule.Thiscanbehelpfulinacasewheretheshelfdoesn’t
haveanSDPinstalled,asinthecaseoftheATCA‐6002shelf.
