Disabling the Shelf Manager
Important:WhenthereisonlyoneSCMorShelfManagermoduleintheshelf,disablingits
ShelfManagercausesallshelfmanagementfunctionalitytobelost.Additionally,ifyoupower
cycletheshelforthemodulewiththedisabledShelfManager,allmodulesintheshelf
(includingtheSCMorShelfManagermodule)will beunabletopoweruptheirpayloads.To
re‐enabletheShelfManagerandallowthepayloadtopowerup,youmustinstalltheSCMor
ShelfManagermoduleintoashelfwithanactiveShelfManagerrunningandthenre‐enable
it.
1. EstablishaserialconnectiontotheShelfManagermoduleandlogonasroot.Seethe
module’sInstallation Guidefordetails.
2. Atthepromptoftheconnectedcomputer,thefollowingmayappear:
DEBUGMODE:~#
ThisDEBUGMODEpromptisaresultofaconflictbetweentheShelfManageronthemodule
andtheShelfManageronthenon‐Radisysshelf.DisablingtheShelfManageronthe
moduleresolvesthisconflict.
3. DisabletheShelfManagerbyentering:
rsys‐ipmitoolrsysoemshmcdisable
4. Toverifythatthemodule’sShelfManagerisdisabled,enter:
rsys‐ipmitoolrsysoemshmcinfo
IftheShelfManagerisdisabled,theresponseisShMCstate:Disabled
5. IfasecondSCMisinstalled,performsteps1through4onthesecondSCMaswell.
6. Cyclethepowerontheshelftorestartthenon‐RadisysShelfManager.
7. Seethemodule’sInstallationGuidetocompletetheverificationsteps.
