Memory module replacement procedures
Note:WhiletheATCA‐46xxCPMcanoperateusingawiderangeofDIMMmemory
combinations,atleastoneDIMMmoduleshouldbeinstalledineachCPUDIMMbankto
ensuretherearenotbootinitializationerrors.
Adding or replacing memory modules
ReplacingDIMMsconsistsofremovingtheCPMfromtheshelf,removingthemainboard
cover,removinganyDIMMstobereplaced,installingthenewDIMMs,replacingthemain
boardcover,andre‐installingtheCPMintheshelf.Thefollowingsectionsdetailthese
procedures.

(seeElectrostaticdischargeonpage 10).
Supported DIMM combinations
TheCPMnormallyusesregisteredDIMMs(RDIMMs)infullsetsoftwelveidenticalmodules.
Thesupportedmodulekitsareasfollows:
• A4600‐MEM‐48GB:Thisisasetoftwelvemodulesof4GBDDR3VLPRDIMMs.
• A4600‐MEM‐96GB:Thisisasetoftwelvemodulesof8GBDDR3VLPRDIMMs.
Note:TheCPMcansupportmemorymodulesetsofDDR3VLPRDIMMsincapacitiesof1GB,
2GB,4GB,8GB,16GBand32GBpermoduleaslongasmaximummemorytemperatureforthe
modulesisnotexceeded.
Removing DIMMs
TheseinstructionsassumetheCPMhasbeenremovedfromtheshelfandthemainboard
coverhasbeenremoved.
1. DeterminewhichDIMMstoremove(seepreviousdiscussionunderSupportedDIMM
combinations).
2. PressoutwardontheejectorlatchestopopoutaDIMM,asindicatedforthefrontDIMM
socketinFigure 9.
