Integrated Memory Controller (IMC)
TheintegratedmemorycontrollerincorporatedintoeachE52400familyprocessorsupports
threechannelsofDDR3,eachchannelwith64databitsand8ECCbits.TheCPMsupportsup
tosixregisteredVLPRDIMMspersocket(twoperchannel)forasystemtotaloftwelve
RDIMMs.Table 6liststhesupportedRDIMMmemorytypesoftheCPMandprovidesthe
requiredspecificationsforthemodules.
Theintegratedmemorycontrollersupportsuptofourmemorymodes,buttheCPMusesonly
theIndependentmode(highestperformance)inwhichRDIMMscanbeplacedinanyofthe
threechannelsandtherearenomatching
requirementsforrankorDIMMspeedbetween
channels.Aburstlengthof8isused,andthememorycontrollerisconfiguredtointerleave
thememorymapacrossthethreechannels.
TheIMCprovidesthefollowingtoolstosupportmemoryreliabilityandpeakoperation:
•SDDC(SingleDeviceDataCorrection)algorithmthatcandetectandcorrectanyerror
withinax4deviceinindependentmode.
•DRAMthermalmanagementeitherbyDRAMthrottlingorbyperforminga2Xrefreshto
thememorychannels.
