Parameter Possible Values / Remarks
Buffer Define whether you want the alarm buffer to contain all alarms (including traps) or only
those alarms of at least a certain severity.
Alarm On Severity - Minimum level of severity required for sending an alarm to the
alarm buffer
Alarm Off Severity - Maximum level of severity allowed for an alarm not to be sent to
the alarm buffer
A masked alarm does not appear in the buffer and no traps are sent for it, even if its
severity matches the Alarm On Severity specified here.
R1/R2 Relay Define whether you want to receive the beep sound of the R1/R2 Relay contact for all
alarms or for only those alarms of at least a certain severity.
Alarm On Severity - Minimum level of severity required for sending a beep sound to the
network management station
ALR Minor LED Define the level of severity at which the MTCL2’s ALR Minor LED turns on.
ALR Major LED Define the level of severity at which the MTCL2’s ALR Major LED turns on.
Read ACM Alarm Descriptions
Using the Read ACM Alarm Description command, you can initiate an update of
the ACM Alarm Descriptions.
To update the ACM Alarm Descriptions:
In the Fault menu, click Alarms, followed by Configuration and Read ACM
Alarm Descriptions …
The ACM Alarm Descriptions are updated and saved in the NMS database.
Displaying the History Log
The History Log lists all Megaplex, card and port alarms since the last time the log
was cleared.
Displaying All Buffer Alarms
The History Log>All command displays the entire contents of the Megaplex’s
alarm buffer.
To display the contents of the Megaplex's alarm buffer:
From the Fault menu, select History Log followed by All…
The All Active Alarms dialog box appears. The Alarm Buffer List displays all
recorded Megaplex, card and port alarms since the last time the log was
cleared. If the list is long, you can click the scroll bar or scroll arrows to
display more entries.
