To activate an inband loopback:
• From the Loopback Configuration, perform the following:
1. Select Loopback State and set it to Disable.
2. Select Loopback Location and set it as follows:
Local System (External loopback is activated in the local IPmux-8/16)
Remote System (Internal loopback is activated in the remote
IPmux-8/16)
Transparent (Loopback activation code is transmitted to the remote
TDM device, which closes the loopback)
Disable (IPmux-8/16 ignores inband activation code).
3. Define Activate Loop Pattern (8-bit code to be sent by the adjacent TDM
device in order to activate a loopback)
4. Define Deactivate Loop Pattern (8-bit code to be sent by the adjacent
TDM device in order to deactivate a loopback).
T1 LOOPBACK CONFIGURATION
1. Loopback State Disable
2. Loopback Location Local System
3. Activate Loop Pattern 10000
4. Deactivate Loop Pattern 100

Running Ping Test
You can ping remote IP host to check the IPmux-8/16 IP connectivity.
To ping an IP host:
1. From the Main menu, select System.
The System menu is displayed.
2. From the System menu, select Ping.
The Ping menu is displayed (see
Figure 6-13).
3. From the Ping menu, enter IP address of the host that you intend to ping.
4. Press <Spacebar> to define the number of pings (1, 2, 3, 4 or Endless
Repeats).
5. Press <Enter> to start pinging.
