Installation guide

TIP: You can also use the Dante Controller Identify function to turn on the EXP2x Locate LED.
Because Dante Controller does not provide a way to turn Locate off, the EXP2x includes a 5 minute
timeout, which automatically turns off the Locate LED after the Identify function has turned it on.
3. Expansion Bus Jacks and Link LED
Use one of these jacks to connect the EXP2x to the HAL, using a shielded CAT 5e (or better) cable. Use
the other jack to connect the EXP2x to another Expansion Unit, thus forming a daisy chain.
The Link LED lights when the HAL is communicating with the EXP2x.
4. Primary Dante Network Jack and LEDs
Use this port to connect to the Primary Dante network via a CAT 5e (or better)cable. You may use a
shielded or unshielded Ethernet cable for this connection.
The ACT LEDis on when the Primary port is connected to an Ethernet network. The LED flashes when
the EXP2x sends or receives data on the port.
The 1GB LED is on when the Primary port is connected to a 1 Gigabit Ethernet network. If it is off and
the ACT LEDis on, it is connected to a slower speed network.
5. Secondary Dante Network Jack and LEDs
Use this port to connect to the Dante network via a CAT 5e (or better)cable. You may use a shielded or
unshielded Ethernet cable for this connection. If, in Dante Controller software, you have configured the
secondary port as Switch, the port behaves as an Ethernet switch connected with the Primary port. Alter-
nately, if you have configured the secondary port in Dante Controller as Redundant, the port is inde-
pendent from the Primary port and you should connect it to the secondary Dante network.
Configure the secondary port mode using Dante Controller software.
The ACT LEDis on when the Secondary port is connected to an Ethernet network. The LED flashes
when the EXP2x sends or receives data on the port.
The 1GB LED is on when the Secondary port is connected to a 1 Gigabit Ethernet network. If it is off
and the ACT LED is on, it is connected to a slower speed network.
6. Secondary Mode LEDs
These LEDs indicate the mode of the Secondary Dante port. If you have configured the secondary port in
Dante Controller software as Switch, the port behaves as an Ethernet switch connected with the Primary
port. Alternately, if you have configured the secondary port as Redundant, the port is independent from
the Primary port, and is intended to be connected to the secondary Dante network.
Configure the secondary port mode using Dante Controller software.
