D8E1T1 Installation and Operation Manual Chapter 4 Troubleshooting and Diagnostics
Expose (Link Status) 4-15
Table 4-8. T1/E1 Link Status Menu Field Descriptions (Cont.)
Field Description
State: (column) A display of On in this column next to any of the Error entries indicates that an
error condition currently exists on the T1 or E1 link. A display of Off indicates
that the error condition is not present, but if the errored seconds field has a
count, then this alarm has occurred sometime in the past (since the last time
that the counter was cleared).
Note:
ll Error and Alarm states will only be detected in Clear T1/E1 Disabled
mode, except for LOS and BPV. These will also be detected in Clear
T1/E1 Framed mode.
ErrSecs (Errored Seconds):
(column)
The display count in this column indicates the quantity of seconds that the error
condition on the T1 or E1 link has been present or was present. Press C to clear
the counters for this link.
Red Alarm:
(T1 display field)
A display of On indicates that a loss of frame alignment has occurred and
synchronization has been lost.
Yellow Alarm:
(T1 display field)
A Yellow Alarm is generated by the network and sent to the customer premises.
It usually means that the network is not correctly receiving the DXC-100 signal
(the network is not in sync or a Red Alarm has occurred).
RAI: (E1 display field) A display of On indicates that a Remote Alarm Indication has been received
(via TS-0 overhead).
MFRAI: (E1 display field) A display of On indicates that a Far end Channel Associated Signalling (CAS)
Multi-Frame (MF) alarm indication received (via TS-16 overhead).
Loss of Signal:
(display field)
This field will display On to indicate a loss of signal detection. No T1 or E1
signal is present on the RX pair to the DXC-100.
AIS Indication:
(display field)
A display of On indicates that an unframed “all ones” condition has been
detected. After AIS (Alarm Indication Signal) is detected, the system will return
a yellow alarm signal and pass on channel trunk conditioning.
Out of Frame:
(display field)
A display of On indicates that the received link data stream does not meet pre-
set framing criteria.
SEF Indication:
(display field)
A display of On indicates that a Severely Errored Frame has been detected (the
receive signal does not meet the requirements of ANSI T1.231).
Transmit Slip:
(display field)
A display of On indicates that slip has been detected in the outgoing path.
Receive Slip: (display field) A display of On indicates that slip has been detected in the incoming path.
CRC Errors (Cyclic
Redundancy Check
Errors): (display field)
The CRC test is a 6-bit algorithm that checks the content of the entire frame.
For T1 (ESF framing), this field indicates the number of CRC6 block errors that
have been detected. D4 framing does not include CRC6; DXC-100 replaces
that parameter by counting the number of framing bit errors. The result is a
useful picture over time regarding D4 link performance. For E1, this field
indicates the number of CRC4 block errors that have been detected.
Bpv Errors (Bi-Polar
Violation Errors):
(display field)
This field is a counter that records the number of Bipolar Violations that have
been detected. This usually indicates that a very weak or excessively strong
signal is being received from the network.
