WAN Protocol Parameters – PPP Protocol Menu
The PPP Protocol Parameters menu is used to configure the parameters PPP WAN
for protocol (the WAN protocol is selected by means of the (the WAN protocol is
selected by means of the
Quick Setup Menu ) in Figure C-6 .
 To access the Protocol Parameters menu:
• From the Advanced Setup menu, type 3.
Header and Control Field Compression
Used to control the use of header and control field compression type according
to RFC 1661. It is strongly recommended that this compression be used for
troubleshooting only.
Protocol Field Compression
Used to control the use of protocol field compression type according to
RFC 1661. It is strongly recommended that this compression be used for
troubleshooting only.
Authentication Protocol
Used to select the authentication protocol used by an IP router configured as
host to validate incoming connections.
Security Host/Guest
This option can be used to configure the IP router either as a guest unit, to be
authenticated by another router, or as a host unit, that authenticates other routers.
