4-38 SHDSL Port Configuration
Table 4-20. SHDSL Port – Physical Layer Parameters
Parameter Remarks
Port The selected port
SHDSL
Read-only
Type The protocol application which runs above the physical port.
SHDSL
Read-only
Wire Interface Displays the two-wire or optional four-wire operation for SHDSL Lines.
Two Wires, Four Wires
Read-only
Line Probe
Enabled
Enables/disables support for Line Probe of the units in a SHDSL line. When Line Probe is
enabled, the system performs Line Probing to find the best possible rate. If Line probe is
disabled, the rate adaptation phase is skipped to shorten set up time.
Enabled, Disabled
Disabled when Wire Interface = Four wires
Power Backoff Configures the receiver at the associated segment endpoint to enable/disable power
backoff mode.
Enabled, Disabled
When Wire Interface = Two Wires, and Line probe is enabled, at least one SNR margin must be enabled.
(In this case, by default, Startup SNR Margin is enabled = 2.)
Enable Startup
SNR Margins
(dB)
Determines the relevance of the Startup SNR Margins (dB) field.
Enabled, Disabled
Startup SNR
Margins (dB)
Specifies the downstream current condition target SNR margin for a SHDSL line. The
SNR margin is the difference between the desired SNR and the actual SNR. Target SNR
margin is the desired SNR margin for a unit.
0..10
Disabled when “Line Probe Enabled” is disabled
Enable Worst
Case SNR
Margins (dB)
Indicates whether a target SNR margin is enabled or disabled.
Enabled, Disabled
Worst Case SNR
Margins (dB)
Specifies the downstream worst case target SNR margin for a SHDSL line. The SNR
margin is the difference between the desired SNR and the actual SNR. Target SNR
margin is the desired SNR margin for a unit
0..10
Disabled when “Line Probe Enabled” is disabled
