Adding Cross Connections 5-1
Chapter 5
Cross Connection
This chapter discusses how to use LA-110 MD to add, configure, and monitor
cross connections in the LA-110 node.
Managing cross connections includes the following tasks:
• Using the LA-110 Navigator to perform operations on connections
• Adding cross connections
• Viewing and modifying connections
• Performance monitoring.
Connections are added, deleted and configured through the Navigator tool only.
5.1 Adding Cross Connections
This section discusses how to use LA-110 MD to add cross connections to the
LA-110 node.
It is possible to add the following LA-110 connections:
• LAN VC Connections
• CES VC Connections
• FR VC Connections
• AAL1 Stream VC Connections.
You can expand the Connections container in the Navigator to view the available
connection types. LAN and CES are always available. FR and AAL1 Stream
availability is contingent upon the FR port application mode.
When a selected container reaches the maximum number of connections, the Add
Component menu will be disabled. For line type unframed MAX = 1, for CES E1
connection types MAX = 16.
LAN VC Connection
You can create and delete LAN Connections in the 5520 Navigator. The LAN
Connection container includes two connections that already exist in the device,
ILMI and management connections. The Delete and Edit options are disabled for
these connections. For instructions how to delete connections, see Deleting Cross
Connections.
