5.
Connect the output connector of the right module (slave) to
channel 2 of the oscilloscope.
6. Send the following commands to the left module (the master):
inst:coup:mode mast
inst:coup:path lbus
inst:coup:stat on
outp on
This configures the module as a master, selects
the Local Bus
(LBUS) as the coupling path, turns coupling on,
and then turns
on the output. At this point, the oscilloscope (channel 1)
will
show that the master module is generating a waveform
. Since
the frequency and amplitude were not commanded, the
waveform will have the default amplitude (5V
P-P
)
and the default
frequency (1MHz). The master module is also sending
the
synchronization signals onto the LBUS.
7. Send the following command sequence to the right module
(slave):
inst:coup:path lbus
inst:coup:mode slav
inst:coup:stat on
outp on
This selects LBUS as the coupling path for phase locking,
sets
up the module as a slave to be phase-
locked to the master,
turns coupling on (enables phase locking)
, and then turns on
the output.
After the above steps have been performed,
channel 2 on the
oscilloscope will show that the slave module is generating
the
default waveform: a 5V
p-p
sine wave.
By comparing the displays of
channels 1 and 2 on the oscilloscope, it is
verified that the two
3152B units are in-phase.
Using the
3201A/3202A
Signal Amplifier
The 3201A and 3202A Signal Amplifiers
, available in
Models 3100M and 3100R,
provide amplification for driving up to
20 Vp-p into loads as low as 50 Ω. These amplifiers do not
generate waveforms themselves, but simply amplify low-
voltage
signals from the 3152B module. They provide a fixed gain of 10.
Use a coaxial cable to connect the 3152B output to one of
the
3201A/3202A amplifier inputs. The 3201A/3202A
will then route the
amplified signal and route it to the 3201A/3202A output connector.
Models 3201A and 3202A may be used as summing amplifiers.
